Aims & Objectives
The SustainEBuild project is guided by the priorities of addressing environmental challenges and adapting vocational education and training (VET) to labour market needs. The European Commission’s “A Renovation Wave for Europe – Greening our buildings, creating jobs, improving lives” aims to tackle energy poverty and improve the worst-performing buildings in the EU, doubling annual energy renovation rates over the next decade. With energy security concerns due to geopolitical events and the need for economic recovery post-COVID-19, our project is positioned to make a significant impact.
In Europe, 75% of existing buildings are energy-inefficient, contributing to nearly 40% of final energy consumption. Addressing this inefficiency is crucial to meet European Green Deal targets. By improving building energy efficiency, we aim to enhance health and wellbeing, reduce energy poverty, and boost employment opportunities, thereby benefiting the environment, economy, and society.
Our key objectives are:
- Generate didactic resources to complete knowledge on energy efficiency and building renovation for VET students studying construction.
- Train students in eco-responsibility, energy efficiency, and Building Information Modelling (BIM) technologies.
- Make one building energy efficient through internal and external rehabilitation and renovation.
- Promote transnational cooperation and the internationalisation of schools.
